The human race simply cannot survive without pollination. Roughly 80% of the world’s major food crops either require or benefit from animal and insect pollination. Pollen can be carried by the wind, water, animals, or insects. Insect pollination takes place by more than just bees. Butterflies, wasps, moths, hummingbirds, ants, beetles, and flies all help out as well. Join Dodge County Master Gardener Carol Shirk to learn how to plant a pollinator garden to help out the pollinators and beautify your landscape in the process.
Carol Shirk has gardened for most of her life and has been a Master Gardener for over 28 years. She enjoys helping others learn about the joy of gardening whether it be growing vegetables, attracting pollinators, learning how to compost, making beautiful container gardens, identifying pests, or preventing wildlife from encroaching on much loved landscaping.
